ABOUT THE EVENT

This all-day, home-grown aviation event is an impactful and educational expo focused on fostering the next generation of pilots in Hawaii. Whether you have just started dreaming about taking your career to the skies, or you are a thousand hours deep into your time building adventure, this event has something to offer all aviators! 

The aim of this event is 3-fold:

1. To offer a place for aspiring pilots to learn how to get started in aviation and to learn what it takes to become a professional pilot. Attend our networking expo to mingle with flight instructors, local flight schools, aviation scholarship opportunities, and more!

2. To provide students and current pilots an opportunity to attend education sessions from experts in their aviation-related fields, such as Air Traffic Controllers, the National Weather Service, and more. Attendance in each session will enter you for a chance to win one of the following prizes: discovery flights from local flight schools, AOPA Swag Bag, Sporty's PPL Ground School Course, Kings School Ground Course, Foreflight and more!

3. To provide an opportunity for those pilots ready to start, or further, their careers with a networking/recruiting event from all Hawaii-based part 135 and 121 employers. Bring your resume, smile, and your A-Game to mingle at our networking expo to talk directly with employers of your dream, Hawaii-based companies!

Presented by Hawaiian Airlines, learn how to craft a professional pilot resume. A lot goes into applying for jobs in this competitive industry and Hawaiian Airlines is here to help you create an appealing resume that will help to move your application on to an interview.  Hawaiian Airlines will also provide best practices to support interview preparation.

*Trades or Troubles: A High-Level Overview

NOAA's Robert and Maureen Ballard

This session will include a brief overview of common Hawaii weather patterns, and how they relate to aviation. It will touch on some specific weather patterns that tend to be troublesome for pilots. It will include a brief look at how to access aviation weather data from National Weather Service websites.

*Stabilized Approaches and Go-Arounds

Honolulu FSDO's Scott Allen

We tend to think of Stabilized Approaches in terms of Instrument Approaches - while that certainly applies, there are definite safety benefits to applying the discipline of stabilized approaches to Visual Flight Rules Approaches as well. With Honolulu FAASTeam Program Manager (OPS), Scott Allen, this session will address some of the benefits and risks regarding approaches, specifically here in Hawaii.

What is the Hawaii Aviation Expo?

The Hawaii Aviation Expo is a 3 in 1: job fair, aviation educational workshop, and flight training networking event. It will feature booths and representatives from flight schools and businesses across the island, and offers safety lectures from aviation professionals in all aviation industries. This event will help new, aspiring aviators find their start on their aviation journey and aid current professionals in furthering their careers!

How do I get FAA WINGS credits for attending?

For each education session you attend, indicated with an asterisk(*), you will receive one WINGS credit from the FAA: Trades or Troubles: A High-Level Overview and Stabilized Approaches and Go-Arounds. Must have a FAASTeam Account. Sign up and read more about how the WINGS credits work “HERE!”

  

What if I am only interested in a particular education session or networking session, do I need to attend the entire day?

No. Our event is designed for you to attend whatever is of value and interest to you. You will receive a wristband upon check in that will allow you to come and go as you please. You may attend as little or as much as you desire of the day’s offerings.

 

Will food be provided this year?

No food will be provided. There will be vending machines throughout the property, or you are encouraged to walk to nearby restaurants. Neal S. Blaisdell Center is surrounded by great restaurants and bars ready for any pre-event or post-event activities.

 

What is the dress code for the Hawaii Aviation Expo?

There is no mandatory dress code beyond that attendees wear shirts and shoes, however if you plan to network, it is recommended you dress in business casual or business attire. Dress to impress, as they say!

 

Can I volunteer for the Hawaii Aviation Expo?

Please email us if you are interested in volunteering. If there are still needs, we'll plug you in. 

  

I purchased a ticket and now I can’t attend. Can I get a refund or transfer my ticket to someone else?

Unfortunately, no. Ticketmaster has a strict no refunds or exchanges policy. We are not able to adjust this rule for our event.

 

Where can I purchase my ticket(s)?

For reduced ticketing fees, you can purchase your ticket(s) in-person at the Blaisdell Box Office (Located at 777 Ward Ave, Honolulu, HI 96814) Open Tuesday – Saturday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Sunday - Monday: CLOSED. Otherwise, you can purchase your ticket (s) online through Ticketmaster HERE.

 


Can I purchase my ticket(s) on your website like the last 2 years?

No. This year, with our event being at the Blaisdell, tickets are required to be sold and purchased through Ticketmaster. Follow the link on this page to purchase tickets on the Ticketmaster website. Alternatively, For reduced ticketing fees, you can purchase your ticket(s) in-person at the Blaisdell Box Office (Located at 777 Ward Ave, Honolulu, HI 96814) Open Tuesday – Saturday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Sunday - Monday: CLOSED.

 

Do you offer any discounts?

99s Member: If you are a registered and active member of the 99s, with up-to-date dues, you can purchase your ticket for half price. Reach out to us via email to get the instructions. 

Early Bird: We offer an early bird price from April 1st through April 31st of $35/ticket. 

Scholarship: If you would like to attend the expo but feel the cost of a ticket is a financial burden, please apply to receive a ticket via scholarship. A limited amount of scholarships are available. You can find details via THIS LINK to apply. 

Purchase In-Person: To avoid the $11 fees from Ticketmaster, you can purchase in-person at the Blaisdell Box Office during their normal business hours.

 

Where can I park at the event?

Parking is available at the Blaisdell Center. Parking will cost $8 for the day, $10 for in and out privileges, and 4$ for motorcycles. For a comprehensive look at parking and costs, please visit Blaisdell’s parking guide “HERE.”

 


What CAN NOT be brought into the venue?

No food, beverages, bottles (including Hydroflasks, glass, tumblers, etc.) , or cans may be brought from the outside into any Center facility by any individual who is a patron attending an event. No outside alcoholic beverages are allowed to be brought in to any facility by any patron.


The general bag policy for all venues is that all bags do not exceed 12 inches by 12 inches. Bags do not need to be clear.
